“TRANS-E-VISION” is a learning partnership (LP) that brings together adult education providers from DE, ES and IT. It focuses on the companionship of elderly and dying people with music as support and complement to the professional caring staff by volunteers to allow dignified ageing and dying.

Music offers the great possibility to serve as special level of encounter if language hits the walls.

Project  description

Each person will face the transition from life to death (in which form depends on the personal belief) sometimes.

This topic is especially near for senior citizens or seriously ill persons.

The Demography Report of the EU Commission shows the major increase of the group of senior citizens in the European Union impressively. Up to date, older people are the main users of long-term care, and their demand for such services can be expected to grow significantly over the coming decades.

When facing transition from life to decease most people wish for a feeling of peace and ease of mind. Music has the ability to create, support or experience these feelings because music addresses people on emotional level in a special way. Unfortunately the resources for palliative care are currently very limited in the EU member states in terms of finances, time and high quality educated staff. To address these needs and the challenges identified during the learning partnership “TRANSAGE” the project partners proposed the project “TRANS-E-VISION” – Music feels the end of life.

With an instrument or a voice it is possible to meet the individual need of a care recipient.

All partners of the LP identified the need for changes in this field in their regions and countries.

Results: meetings, website, reports, collection of good practices, “TRANS-E-VISION” Booklet.
